Although Russia operates various MiG aircraft built by Mikoyan, it isn't the sole defense contractor supplying fighter jets to the Russian Air Force. Sukhoi also plays a major role in the nation's defense industry, producing some of the most advanced and deadly fighter planes in the world.

Russia's Squadron of Sukhoi Combat Aircraft
Russia doesn't typically disclose detailed information about its military capabilities to the global community. Although it showcases its equipment in public displays, it does not reveal the exact figures. Nonetheless, several international organizations monitor and publish such data for public reference. According to the 2025 edition of the World Air Forces report, the combined total of Su-27, Su-30, and Su-35 fighter jets amounts to 384 units, though the report does not specify how many there are of each model.
The World Directory of Modern Military Aircraft provides an estimated distribution. Based on the WDMMA, Russia operates 12 Su-27s, 18 Su-27UBs, 24 Su-27SM3s, and 47 Su-27SMs, making a total of 101 Su-27 aircraft across different variants. Regarding the Su-30, Russia has 19 Su-30M2s and 91 Su-30SMs, which together amount to 110 aircraft. The Su-35 fleet consists solely of the Su-35S variant, with a total of 114 in service.
Together, the WDMMA's figures estimate Russia's fleet of Sukhoi Su-27, Su-30, and Su-35 aircraft at 325 in total. This results in a discrepancy of 59 Sukhoi fighter jets when compared to the numbers listed by World Air Forces. Nevertheless, even using the lower estimate, it's undeniable that a force of 325 advanced fighter jets represents significant combat capability—more than enough to engage and challenge adversaries effectively.Russia has also recently sold an unspecified quantity of Su-35 fighter jets to Iran.although it probably didn't exhaust its fleet, since Sukhoi produces models specifically for international markets.
