She added that the routine starts with low-intensity exercises and progressively becomes more challenging, saying, "It's a workout plan that begins very gently and simple, but if you stick with it, it can get quite tough."

"I’ve never made it beyond the second level, but it’s a great little workout routine," saysthe MirrorThe XBX routine was originally created by Dr. Bill Orban in the 1950s for new female recruits in the Canadian Air Force, with the goal of improving their physical conditioning.

This 12-minute fitness routine consists of several exercises, including 30 seconds each of toe touches, knee raises, side bends, and arm circles. Additionally, it includes two minutes of sit-ups, one minute of chest and leg lifts, another minute of side leg lifts, two minutes of push-ups from a kneeling position, one minute of leg raises, and a three-minute mix of running and hopping, according to Bristol Live.

Dame Helen's devotion to this brief but efficient regimen highlights her lasting commitment to wellness and physical fitness. Although she follows a rigorous, military-inspired schedule, the 79-year-old admitted that she occasionally gives in to a guilty indulgence.

In 2021, she admitted to having a weakness for comfort food, saying, "I'm the first one at the fish and chips," while recognizing it as an occasional indulgence. She also discussed the link between nutrition and mental health, encouraging mindfulness about what we eat, stating, "But what you're putting inside your body does influence how you feel about yourself, so start there."

Dame Helen has openly discussed aging in the past, telling The Standard that trying to stay young isn't something she's after. "I'm sure I'll soon become completely pear-shaped. But being young doesn't interest me. What matters is staying true to who I really am."

Reflecting on long life and energy, she expressed astonishment at having reached her present age, highlighting liveliness rather than youth. "I never imagined I'd make it to 79. I may not be filled with youth, but I am filled with life. I really like that expression more... And I feel deeply thankful that I spent a significant part of my life in a world without technology. I experienced a tech-free world in a meaningful and complete way... Human relationships were something entirely different back then."
