Games Inbox: Why Some Gamers Just Can't Get Into GTA

The correspondence section on Tuesdays was taken aback to discover that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has proven successful, with one contributor expressing concern over the adverse impacts. GTA 6 .

Minority opinion

With all this discussion of GTA 6 I genuinely feel out of place since I've never truly enjoyed any of them. I recognized GTA 3 As a significant advancement for open-world games, I enjoyed the soundtrack of Vice City. However, I quickly grew tired of the game’s monotonous missions and poor control scheme along with subpar gameplay actions.

Grand Theft Auto IV didn't appear to improve things significantly, and by this point, GTA 5 Not only did I lose interest in the idea itself, but I started finding its glorification of violence and cruelty quite distasteful. Perhaps this is just because I've become a parent recently, but I definitely wouldn't wish for my child to play these games.

I understand that I am in the minority with this view, and I'm certainly not discouraging others from enjoying it. However, for me personally, Grand Theft Auto glorifies the worst aspects of humanity broadly and America particularly, which isn’t quite my cup of tea at the moment. Consider me peculiar, but I prefer playing something more uplifting instead.

Penfold

There are many of us.

On numerous attempts over the years, I've endeavored to engage with and appreciate Grand Theft Auto, yet consistently found myself disappointed. Despite receiving impressive ratings from critics, these games simply do not resonate with me. It seems I'm missing something crucial because others seem to love them. Even if GTA VI garners perfect scores upon review, I will refrain from purchasing it.

I believe it keeps selling for many years post-release as parents eventually allow their children to play it once they think the kids are mature enough. Nevertheless, I'm curious whether the game is often only scratched at the surface in such instances.

Multiplayer from From

I'm unable to express how letdown I felt upon discovering that The Duskbloods is actually a multiplayer game. It took me several days to learn this detail since it wasn't mentioned in the trailer, which made it even more disappointing. My concern now is that their upcoming title, Elden Ring Nightreign, will also be designed for multiple players.

Perhaps it’s merely coincidental, and I believe Nightreign is a more modest and budget-friendly title compared to others. This could further widen the divide from Elden Ring, which released over three years ago. I find myself yearning for another substantial single-player experience from FromSoftware. However, the timing of this and exactly what form it might take remains uncertain.

The future is now

Just like it’s unpleasant to learn about these Switch 2 Game-Key cards, The game Doom: The Dark Ages doesn’t contain anything on the disc. I believe it's much too late to begin voicing concerns about this matter now. Given that merely 10% of individuals are purchasing physical copies at present, the fight was essentially forfeited ages ago.

I understand that many readers here might be part of that 10%, but we need to accept reality: The battle is over. Consumers prefer digital purchases, despite numerous downsides, and publishers are happy to promote this trend since it boosts their profits and eliminates the secondary market.

It's clear now, though it developed gradually enough that folks with physical copies might not have noticed how skewed things have become. However, sadly, this upcoming generation will likely be the first where physical sales won't matter much at all. No matter what anyone says about the $75 price tag, most individuals are opting to purchase Mario Kart World digitally for around $67 instead of shelling out more for the physical version.

I personally believe it's crazy that some folks would rather avoid getting up to switch discs than enjoy owning their games and having the ability to resell them. But here we stand. Now that the genie is out of the bottle, there’s no way to put it back in.

Oblivion on the regular

I completely concur with the performance problems associated with the Oblivion remaster. After spending about 40 hours playing it, I frequently encounter crashes that force the game to close and return me to the Xbox homepage.

It wasn't an issue previously, but it has started occurring quite frequently lately. Although it isn't causing significant problems since it automatically saves whenever I enter a new zone, there is definitely something amiss. This won't deter me from continuing to play, but they should certainly address this bug.

Old and improved

A remaster of GTA 4 As a temporary solution for GTA 6, it seems like a decent plan, but let’s aim for something much better than the disappointing GTA Trilogy remake. It was the most careless and poor-quality product I've ever come across from Rockstar, which genuinely concerns me regarding any future remasters they might release.

A reviewer mentioned that GTA 4 boasted the most compelling storyline among all the titles in the series, and I would likely agree with them. The narrative in GTA 5 certainly included many exciting scenes and memorable personalities; however, it lacked an overarching plot.

The issue with GTA 4 is that the gameplay elements fell short; combat, gunplay, and vehicle control wouldn’t have made the cut in another title unless it had the GTA label. Should there ever be a remastered version, those aspects definitely require improvement. However, it seems unlikely that Rockstar would readily acknowledge such significant flaws.

Lately, many remastered and remake versions of classic games have significantly enhanced their originals, and GTA 4 should definitely join this list since it hasn't held up particularly well over time.

On the contrary, I'm uncertain whether I'd actually alter anything concerning Max Payne 3. The game was significantly underappreciated and merely requires some minor tweaking regarding frame rates and resolutions. Even though I'll never comprehend why they opted against using the fighting mechanics from Max Payne 3 in GTA 4, considering both titles came from Rockstar Games.

Success Expedition

In a landscape filled with game delays, hasty releases riddled with glitches, and skyrocketing costs, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stands out as one of the finest gaming experiences I've had in ages.

I'm hopeful for its success in sales, though I suspect it won't be.

GC: It may come as a shock, but the game became an immediate success and managed to sell 2 million copies within just 12 days.

All boats are beached due to the high tide.

I may not be an industry insider, but I'm unsure about grasping these points being discussed. Grand Theft Auto V has saved the gaming industry. When it releases, I understand the "high tide lifts all boats" logic, but that’s merely an overused saying and isn’t necessarily true in every situation.

It's much more probable that it'll result in an overall negative impact. The game itself might excel and generate massive profits for Take-Two, yet others could find themselves struggling with minimal rewards. Every release scheduled for next spring seems destined to be hastily completed and riddled with glitches, merely to precede GTA 6. Then comes the question: who would dare launch a significant title from June through September?

The sole bright side is that typically very little gets launched during the summer season, so this shouldn't cause a huge dip come Christmas, right? Or could it? Assuming the game meets everyone’s expectations, would there be any grounds for assuming it wouldn’t continue to sell well through the end of the year either? Would gamers actually abandon their playthroughs of GTA 6 just to purchase another installment in the Call Of Duty series?

I wouldn’t bet on it, and even when things do slow down the new GTA Online will be taking a huge chunk out of everyone’s time and money. It’s not Rockstar’s fault, they’re not doing anything wrong from their point of view, but I think GTA 6 is only going to reinforce the massive gap between the half dozen live service games that people play constantly and everything else.

Inbox also-rans

For those who appreciate video game milestones, Monday marked the 20th anniversary of the unveiling of the Xbox 360. From what I recall, it was an odd pre-recorded segment featuring Elijah Wood. How time whizzes by, doesn’t it?

Focus

I was taken aback hearing discussions about a Devil May Cry remake. While I'm not opposed to it, I figured Devil May Cry 5 performed quite well. It’s puzzling to me why there hasn’t been any news regarding another upcoming title yet.

Robin

GC: It sold 10 million copies, performing exceptionally well considering its nature. We can assume there were issues backstage, notably with director Hideaki Itsuno departing from Capcom last year.
